Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also performs music. She is the youngest female and the first to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the early years of her life moving between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. She then moved into Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing even though she's young. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for many years. In 1998, she released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. Since she's performed at many of the biggest stages around the world, her career on stage has been extensive. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve the world of music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, in movies in 2003. She was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and we can expect many new things that will be coming from this talented lady. Anoushka was born in England and spent a lot of her growing up between London and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and enrolled in the high school there. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at the age of nine. After four years she performed her appearance on the sitar in Delhi during her father's 75th birthday party. Anoushka gained a lot of knowledge by traveling across the globe along with the father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. To honor her position as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
